David’s decision to join the military was made on September 11, 2001. Though he was only 16 years old at the time, his commitment to serving his country never wavered. He loved being a Marine, and by all accounts, he was an exceptional one. The Marine Corps gave him a sense of purpose and belonging that he cherished deeply. In his journal, he wrote the words that captured his heart and dedication: “I finally found where I belong.” Those who knew David remember his devotion to his country and his fellow Marines, but they also remember his joyful spirit. He embraced life with enthusiasm, bringing the same passion to laughter, friendship, and having fun as he did to serving his country and his brothers. His courage, loyalty, and love of life continue to inspire all who knew him.
