Pensacola’s Marine Corps League is kicking off its 2019 outdoor speaker series with a presentation by Hershel “Woody” Williams, a 95-year-old Marine who received the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II.
Ed Rouse, spokesman for the Marine Corps League, said Williams is a living legend and the perfect speaker to kick off the organization’s annual Heroes Among Us speaker series.
“He is the last living Marine who is a recipient of the Medal of Honor for service in World War II,” Rouse said.
Williams will speak at 6 p.m. Thursday at Pensacola’s Veterans Memorial Park, 200 S. 10th Ave.
