SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Gold Star Family Day is taking place on September 27 at Veterans Park.
Dave Trei joined Dakota News Now with more information on what Gold Star Family Day is and how you can get involved.
“Gold Star Family Day is a day set aside to honor and mourn with families who have lost somebody serving our country. So, we want to get together and let them know that they’re not mourning alone. They’re not by themselves with this. We all feel their pain too,” said Trei.
“We’ll start at 1:30 pm on Sunday. We’ll have a little bit of music playing, and then we’ll have a guest speaker who is a Gold Star mother. Then, we will have a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument. In case of bad weather, we’ll have it over at the alliance, in the armory building. But it’s starting to look like the weather is supposed to be decent.”
The event will be at Veterans Park at 1021 W. Bailey St., Sioux Falls, SD.
